Job summary

Johnson Controls in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking an HVAC Technician to support our North America operations. You will service commercial and ducted systems, AHUs, rooftop units, and chillers, ensuring efficient performance and reliable operation.

Job description

What you will do:

• Support the fast-growing HVAC business in North America.
• Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related items.
• Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing solutions and outcomes at commissioning and aftermarket service.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
• Maintain union, safety, and operational standards.

How will you do it:

• Work as an HVAC Technician with proven experience in commercial and/or ducted systems, air-cool, and/or water-cool chillers, air handling units (AHUs), and rooftop ducted units.
• Utilize factory certification through the Service Technical Academy (STA) with recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement.
• Leverage incentive programs and a #1 focus on employee safety.
• Use provided tools, uniforms, and a company vehicle to perform your job and service customers.
• Build strong HVAC/mechanical troubleshooting skills, including repairing centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, and screw chillers system components.
• Travel up to 20% to support branch customers’ startup, commissioning, and aftermarket service troubleshooting.
• Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
• Enroll in training programs and JCI’s STA to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.

Required:

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
• Be a dedicated member of a North America Branch team willing to learn and be responsible for startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and aftermarket services.
• Minimum of three (3) years of practical working experience on commercial and/or ducted products, air-cool and/or water-cool chillers, AHU’s or roof-top ducted units with strong HVAC/mechanical troubleshooting experience.
• Be able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers system components.
• Travel may be required 10% to 20% to support branch customers startup and commissioning activities as well as aftermarket service troubleshooting.
• Will be required to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
• Must have a Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver’s license.

Pay Range: $47.20 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet.
