Job summary

Staff Management | SMX seeks an HVAC Test Technician III to join our lab team in Minnesota. You will perform and analyze complex HVAC system tests, operate advanced testing equipment, and contribute to continuous improvement and product quality.

This is a direct-hire, full-time position on the 2nd shift (2:00 pm - 12:30 am). A select set of certifications and an associate degree in HVAC/R are preferred to ensure safe, efficient testing and documentation.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in HVAC & R or related field is required.
• Experience with lab testing and ISO 17025 is preferred.
• Fork truck, man lift, and refrigerant handling certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing activities following standard procedures and ISO 17025.
• Set up and operate complex laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Identify nonconformities and report abnormal testing conditions.
• Maintain clean work area and follow EH&S safety policies.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing activities in accordance with standard procedures, test requirements, and the ISO 17025 standard.
• Perform scheduled instrument verification checks and periodic facility maintenance.
• Set up and operate complex laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Identify and report nonconformities and abnormal testing conditions.
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are upheld at all times.
• Maintain a working knowledge of EH&S safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed safely.
• Maintain effective communication with laboratory and project teams.
• Obtain fork truck training/license, scissor lift training/license, or refrigerant handling certifications.
• Perform test unit setup according to lab procedures and test request requirements.
• Create records of testing activities and document them according to laboratory procedures.
• Improve laboratory activities on a continuous basis.
• Implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair test units and facilities.
• Associate's degree in HVAC & R or related experience.
• Experience related to mechanical test lab or field service (preferred).
• Experience related to lab testing and the ISO 17025 standard
• Fork truck training/license, Man lift training/license, Universal card, or R410a card (preferred).
• Perform scheduled instrument verification checks and facility maintenance.
• Mentorship experience (preferred)
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 ¿ 35 pounds.
• This job requires close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Ability to work at heights.
• 2nd shift, Monday - Thursday 2:00 pm - 12:30 am

The hourly rate for this position is anticipated between $28.61 - $47.04 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the shift you work and other considerations permitted by law.
