HVAC Technician Specialist

The campus hosts more than 1,600 students from Pre‑K through 12 and serves as the setting for various academic and cultural programs.

Job Description

The HVAC Technician Specialist is primarily responsible for installation, repair, and modification of direct digital controls that communicate with building management systems. This position ensures the safe, comfortable, and economical operation of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and plumbing systems throughout the Cranbrook Educational Community, as well as the installation and maintenance of mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and modify direct digital controls that communicate with building management systems.
• Maintain heating and cooling related equipment.
• Perform safety checks on HVAC equipment.
• Maintain water chemistry and associated controls for chillers, makeup water, softeners, boilers, and deprecator tanks.
• Maintain condenser and evaporator tubes on chillers.
• Maintain valve controls and steam injectors.
• Maintain air handlers, pumps, and motors using variable frequency drives.
• Operate, modify, and command points on CB Hawk, Niagara, Apogee, Honeywell, and Metasys database control networks.
• Monitor and operate the administrative level password protocols of building management systems.
• Coordinate alarm points and notifications to the electronic specialist for safe operation.
• Other duties as assigned.
