Job summary

JLL in Houston, TX is hiring an HVAC Technician - Refrigerant Systems & Controls to maintain and optimize refrigerant-based HVAC systems across client facilities. The role emphasizes hands-on service, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and integration with building automation systems.

Candidates should have EPA 608, TDLR Class B, a high school diploma, and 3–5 years of field experience. This is an on-site, day-shift role with comprehensive benefits and visa sponsorship not provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• EPA Section 608 Certification (Type II or Universal).
• TDLR Class B HVAC license (Must have).
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience servicing refrigerant-based HVAC systems.
• Reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and repair refrigerant-based HVAC equipment including VRF/VRV, chillers, DX units, heat pumps, and RTUs.
• Perform refrigerant recovery, charging, leak detection, brazing, and compressor repairs per EPA and safety standards.
• Troubleshoot HVAC electrical components, low-voltage controls, sensors, and automation devices.
• Monitor, adjust, and verify system performance using superheat/subcooling analysis and other diagnostics.
• Document findings, repairs, and refrigerant usage during preventive maintenance inspections.
• Support system startups, commissioning, and functional testing for new or upgraded equipment.
• Communicate technical issues and recommendations to facilities teams and management.
