Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated is seeking an HVAC Technician – Refrigerant Systems & Controls in Houston, TX. The role focuses on maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventive care for refrigerant-based HVAC systems to ensure uptime and energy efficiency across client facilities.

Responsibilities include diagnosing equipment, performing recovery and charging, and supporting commissioning activities. Strong knowledge of BAS/BMS, safety procedures, and EPA standards is required; 3–5 years of

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (Type II or Universal).
  • TDLR Class B HVAC license (Must have)
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience servicing refrigerant-based HVAC systems.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting compressors, refrigerant circuits, and mechanical components.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC electrical systems, low-voltage controls, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service, and repair refrigerant-based HVAC equipment including VRF/VRV systems, chillers, DX units, heat pumps, and rooftop units (RTUs).
  • Perform refrigerant recovery, charging, leak detection, brazing, and compressor repairs in compliance with EPA and safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC electrical components, low-voltage controls, sensors, and automation devices.
  • Monitor, adjust, and verify HVAC system performance using superheat/subcooling analysis and other diagnostic methods.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance inspections and document findings, repairs, and refrigerant usage.
  • Support system startups, commissioning activities, and functional testing for new or upgraded equipment.
  • Communicate technical issues and recommended solutions to facility teams and management.
