Job summary

Amentum is seeking an HVAC Technician IV for our 2nd Shift in Peoria, IL. The role focuses on maintaining HVAC systems, diagnosing issues, and performing preventive maintenance with CMMS support.

Must be able to work varied hours including weekends for 24/7 coverage, and pass pre-employment tests. The technician will repair refrigeration systems, air handlers and related equipment, while ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent. 5 years in HVAC tech experience preferred.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems and associated equipment.
• Ability to read schematics and perform electrical/mechanical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and maintain HVAC equipment including air handlers, pumps and fans.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems and controls in CMMS.
• Coordinate with outside contractors and ensure compliance with codes and safety standards.
• Respond to service requests, provide feedback to the customer, and resolve issues promptly.

Amentum is seeking an HVAC Technician IV to join our 2nd Shift team in Peoria, IL

Hours may vary based on business demand. Weekend hours may be scheduled to support our 24/7 operation.

The HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining the company’s buildings, facilities and equipment in an operating and functional condition. This will include but not limited to refrigeration repairs, troubleshooting, and air handler maintenance and repairs. Duties may include any of the following: electrical repairs or installations, plumbing, welding, machine servicing, and general mechanical maintenance (e.g. Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning or HVAC and sheet metal).

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, reveals mastery of advanced duties of a specialized/technical nature.
• Encounters diverse problems that require thorough analysis.
• Diagnoses, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs heating and ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, compressors, and other mechanical equipment as necessary.
• Utilizes strong mechanical and electrical skills in order to complete assignments.
• Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC control and operating systems as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Responds and provides service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.
• Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
• Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
• Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
• Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
• Coordinates work with outside contractors.
• Assures code and building standards are met.
• Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
• Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent. 5 years of experience in area of specialization.

Additional Information

Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. This position may require a valid Driver's License. This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization. This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location. This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

Physical Requirements

• Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
• Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
• Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
• Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
• Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
• Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
• Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
• Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
• Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
• Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
• Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
• Requires the use of aerial lifting equipment.

Special Requirements

• Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
• Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Other Attributes

Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.

Compensation Details

$35.00-$38.00. The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
