Job summary

LAUKOA in Charleston, SC is seeking an HVAC Mechanic I to assist with maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC systems across the FLETC Charleston facility. You will support senior technicians to ensure heating, cooling, and ventilation operate safely and efficiently while gaining hands-on experience in troubleshooting and system diagnostics.

Work hours are 0700-1600 with on-call availability outside of regular hours.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of HVAC service or maintenance experience.
• Proficiency with system controllers such as Trane Tracer Summit or equivalent.
• EPA 608 Type I or II Certification required; Universal preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation and maintenance of HVAC systems (air handlers, pumps, thermostats, ductwork).
• Perform routine filter changes, coil cleaning, lubrication, and preventative maintenance.
• Support diagnosis of HVAC issues under supervision of senior mechanics.
• Record basic service data and report issues to lead or supervisor.
