Job summary

Irving Independent School District is seeking an HVAC Technician I to maintain the District's facilities. This nonexempt role reports to the HVAC Lead and requires a valid HVAC trade certification, plus a Texas Class C license, with at least five years of hands-on experience in HVAC repair.

The position emphasizes safe, efficient operation of HVAC systems, performance of on-site repairs, and on-the-job training for other staff.

Qualifications

Minimum education/certification: High School Diploma or GED, and HVAC trade school certification.
Must be able to read written instructions, understand verbal instructions, and complete written reports.
Minimum 5 years of experience in residential, commercial, or instructional HVAC repair.

Responsibilities

Diagnose causes of malfunctions in HVAC systems.
Repair or replace failed components or systems in a skilled and safe manner.
Give on-the-job instructions and training to other employees as appropriate.
Do follow-up repairs and assist HVAC Lead and other technicians.
Respond to pages in a timely manner while on-call.
Practice high standards of safety during performance of duties.
Record all material and labor on sites and keep supervisor informed of costs and progress.
Perform other duties as assigned by the HVAC Lead or supervisors.
