Perform basic installation and maintenance of components used incampus heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems andrelated equipment including chilled water, refrigeration, aircompressors, gas heater, air drier, fume hoods and pumps. Assignments typically require HVAC journeymen level skills. Thisposition will interact on a consistent basis with: maintenancesupervision and staff, building managers and vendors.
Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment. Maintenanceactivities will include replacing filters, belts, and otherconsumable items on HVAC systems and related equipment.
Install, repair, replace, operate, maintain, calibrate, test, andtroubleshoot mechanical, electrical and plumbing components used inHVAC.
Troubleshoot pneumatic, electrical, and digital controls.
Monitor and maintain adequate inventory levels for PreventativeMaintenance consumables including filters and belts. Organize,repair and maintain hand tools and power tools. Clean shop areas,mechanical and electrical rooms.
Any other duties and tasks assigned or as required to meet thegoals of the department, division, and Georgia College & StateUniversity.
Educational Requirements
High school diploma or GED certificate.
Other Required Qualifications
EPA Universal CFC certificate
Valid driver's license.
Required Experience
3 years of job-related experience in HVAC field or HVAC technicalschool diploma.
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Technical school Diploma in HVAC, Associates Degree, or two yearsof college course work.
Preferred Experience
Two or more years installing and maintaining commercial HVACsystems.
This position is a pay grade 7. The available salary range is$40,729 to $45,342. Starting salary within this range is based onrelevant years of experience.

ABILITIES
Must have the ability to operate HVAC service tools, hand/powertools and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment. Operate motor vehicles andforklifts. Lift, carry, set down heavy objects. (50-75lbs) Need tobe able to climb and work from ladders, lifts andscaffolding.
KNOWLEDGE
Understanding of how HVAC and refrigeration systems operate.Understanding of chilled water systems, heating water systems, andboilers.
SKILLS
This job requires Journeymen level knowledge and skills forinstalling and maintaining compressors, fans, belts, dampers,motors, starters, low voltage as well as 120,208/240,480-voltservices. In addition, you must be able to read print drawings andschematics via paper copies or computerized software systems.
