The HVAC technician performs diversified installation, operation, inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair duties involving heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration and related control systems throughout the facility.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Receives work orders and coordinates work to fit daily schedule assigned by Lead HVAC Technician.
- Estimates time and materials to perform required tasks.
- Maintains the facility HVAC control systems according to state and local facility regulatory agencies.
- Works with outside vendors and contractors as needed.
- Responsible for daily heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration work performed within the department.
- Orders necessary stock and makes emergency repairs without prior approval. Installs air conditioning, refrigeration, temperature, humidity control systems and accessories.
- Makes daily rounds of building and related equipment as assigned by Lead HVAC Technician.
- Reports any complication on specific jobs or equipment to Lead HVAC Technician. Responds to emergency situations throughout the facility.
- Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition following all prescribed regulations.
- Able to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Able to maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
- Maintains professional appearance at all times.
- Participates in scheduled department meetings.
- Maintains the confidentiality and security of all data and information relating to the facility, medical staff and patients.
- Abides by all relevant facility policies and procedures.
- This position requires training in the following areas: blood-borne pathogens, fire safety, right-to-know, chemical hygiene, and infection control.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- High school graduate or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification
- HVAC technical diploma/certificate or Orange County HVAC Journeyman License.
- Four (4) years of directly related work experience may substitute for the diploma/certificate or license (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section).
- EPA Universal Certification.
- Valid Florida driver’s license with no more than six (6) points, at least 21 years of age, and must be insurable under the Orlando Health insurance carrier’s requirements and standards.
Experience
- Three (3) years’ HVAC experience in commercial, industrial or health care organizations is required.
Education/Training
