Job description

Overview

The Stryten factory in Salina, Kansas is one of the largest lead-acid battery manufacturing sites in North America, with 800 employees capable of producing over 35,000 quality batteries daily. These batteries are used in cars, boats, RVs, and lawn and garden equipment. Stryten actively supports the local community through programs like Project Salina, the Salvation Army Angel Tree, and volunteering at the Smoky Hill River Festival.

Stryten Energy is hiring for the Salina team! We conduct new employee orientations weekly, and due to increased orders, we need additional team members to meet customer demand.

Position: HVAC Technician

Our HVAC Technicians install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial air-conditioning and multi-zone heating and cooling systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

Our plant is located in Salina, KS. Employees also reside in nearby towns such as Concordia, Ellsworth, Herington, and McPherson.

Starting pay: $31.69 per hour

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair HVAC systems and related equipment
• Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning, replacing parts, testing for leaks, and adjusting controls
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform repairs
• Document maintenance activities in compliance with EPA regulations
• Adjust system controls for efficiency and test performance
• Manage refrigerants in accordance with EPA standards
• Test for leaks and other system issues
• Evaluate and recommend improvements
• Complete paperwork promptly and professionally
• Follow safety rules and regulations
• Undergo hazardous waste training within six months of employment, with annual reviews
• Perform additional tasks as assigned, including 5S cleaning

Qualifications

Educational and Certification Requirements:

• Completion of related trade school
• OSHA-10 certification (must obtain within 6 months if not already certified)
• Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certificate

Skills and Experience:

• Ability to read plans, electrical drawings, and EPA diagrams
• Experience with blueprints and troubleshooting various HVAC equipment
• Valid Kansas driver’s license and clean record
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in extreme conditions
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to wear PPE and work in confined spaces
