Job summary

Northern Virginia Community College is seeking an HVAC Technician to operate, maintain, repair, and install HVAC systems at the Prince William campus. The role is full-time, non-telework, with a hiring range of $65,000 to $75,000 per year.

The ideal candidate will have a Universal Refrigeration Certificate, Commercial HVAC Training, and experience with Building Automation Systems. You will diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, manage spare parts, and support emergency operations.

Qualifications

• HVAC equipment maintenance and repair knowledge.
• Ability to read and follow mechanical drawings and blueprints.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Journeyman license or HVAC trade license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs.
• Coordinate seasonal startup and shutdown.
• Troubleshoot wiring, controls, relays, and sensors.
• Maintain inventory and report supplies.
• Support emergency operations as needed.
