Job Summary: EMCOR Services of NY/NJ has an opportunity for an HVAC Technician. The technician performs preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing of commercial and industrial HVAC systems. Responsibilities include testing and data analysis to ensure proper equipment functioning and providing recommendations. Must understand control operation and sequence of operation for HVAC systems. The role requires good organization for maintaining accurate service and maintenance records, effective communication, leadership qualities, strong customer relationships, and team building skills. Follows all electrical safety standards and procedures, including training and coaching apprentices and co-workers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Install replacement equipment and parts according to manufacturer specifications to honor warranties.
• Perform HVACR preventive maintenance as per established standards.
• Troubleshoot, analyze, and repair HVACR malfunctions following EPA standards.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and operation logs according to schedule.
• Complete documentation such as timesheets, expense reports, service reports, and purchase logs.
• Conduct general tasks including safety training, group meetings, and maintaining tools and vehicles.

Education:

• High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent; HVAC Apprenticeship Program.

Qualifications/Skills:

• 5-10 years of HVAC experience with commercial or industrial systems.
• Ability to read and understand instructions, safety policies, and manuals; write reports; present information effectively.
• Knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems; basic math skills; ability to read blueprints and schematics.

Licenses/Certifications:

• EPA universal refrigeration license.
• OSHA 30.
• FDNY Fire Watch and Burning Permits.
• Clean Driver's License.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent standing, walking, handling, talking; occasional sitting, reaching, climbing, stooping; lifting up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 100 pounds occasionally. Visual abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment:

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, wet/humid conditions, high places, fumes, chemicals, weather extremes, vibration, and loud noises. Safety equipment may be required.
