Center Point Energy is looking for a HVAC Technician B to join our Team, located in Mankato, Minnesota. This is an entry-level position that requires either successful completion of a 1 or 2-year certificate, diploma or associate degree program (minimum of 2 semesters or 3 quarters) at an accredited educational institution in heating, refrigeration and air conditioning, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent technical skills. If you don’t have a technical degree, you will need a minimum of 2 years experience in heating, refrigeration and air conditioning.
The HVAC Technician B will provide quality services and/or products while focusing on customer satisfaction and safety. Essential functions include:
• Performing all duties in a safe manner at all times.
• Servicing, inspecting and installing residential and commercial gas and electric appliances and HVAC equipment to comply with codes and ensure superior service in terms of safety, reliability, customer satisfaction and monetary value.
• Developing, maintaining and demonstrating related skill proficiency based on changes in products and/or technology in order to provide service excellence.
• Demonstrating efficient, accurate and productive work practices.
• Maintaining and repairing the gas distribution system, including but not limited to gas meters and regulators to assure safe and continuous service to customers.
• Promoting and accepting accountability for providing superior customer satisfaction and selling of Home Service Plus products and services (e.g., Service Plus contracts, options, Safety Plus and Home Comfort Sales referrals) to customers.
• Maintaining professional working relationships with internal and external customers.
• Responding to emergency situations to assure the safe delivery of natural gas and to maintain public and personal safety.
• Completing record keeping associated with appliance service and distribution functions to ensure an accurate information system is maintained.
• Operating company vehicle safely. Maintaining vehicle and parts inventory.
• Using Personal protective equipment and tools according to company standards and policies.
• Performing other related tasks including, but not limited to leak survey work, line locating, foreign construction work, storekeeping, meter reading, chart changing, transporting appliances and equipment, and fleet and facilities maintenance to ensure the efficient operation of the work unit.
• Participating in training externally and internally, both field and classroom to increase job knowledge and competency.
• Advising and assisting other employees on the job to provide technical, safety and procedural knowledge.
