Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to design, install, operate, and service critical mechanical systems for government and commercial facilities.

You will handle preventive and corrective maintenance across a range of equipment including chillers, boilers, AHUs, VAVs, and cooling towers. The role requires a strong understanding of HVAC design, field diagnostic work, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; 3+ years of commercial HVAC experience or 1+ year with an associate degree.
  • Commercial HVAC experience with trucks-based service
  • Experience with chillers, boilers, AHUs, VAVs and related controls.
  • HVAC training program or apprenticeship (preferred)
  • Current CFC/EPA Universal Certification (within 1 year)
  • Willingness to obtain Top Secret clearance
  • Valid driver's license; may require vehicle use
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and plans
  • Proficiency with hand tools and testing equipment
  • Excellent English communication and willingness to work nights/weekends/on-call

Responsibilities

  • Provide full-service maintenance and installation for mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance across government and commercial clients.
  • Install, service, and repair chillers, boilers, AHUs, VAVs, heat pumps, and related systems.

Responsibilities

Our team provides a full-service solution for mechanical equipment and systems maintenance and installation. Our mission-critical services will meet our customer’s needs whether they are using a full-service, monthly, or quarterly based service contract. Our customers consist of mostly government-based facilities but also include privately-owned and commercially operated businesses.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED and 3+ years of commercial HVAC experience; or 1+ year of experience with an associate degree.
  • Commercial HVAC experience as a truck-based service technician.
  • Experience working with complex HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, package units, AHUs, and VAV systems (direct digital, pneumatic, and automated controls).
  • Completion of an HVAC technical training program or recognized apprenticeship (preferred).
  • Current CFC/EPA Universal Certification (within 1 year if not currently held).
  • Holistic understanding of mechanical equipment and HVAC design in commercial and industrial environments.
  • HVAC OEM factory training or experience with Trane, Liebert, Stulz, and other major brands.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance (applicants will undergo a government background investigation).
  • Requires a Valid driver's license. This position may require ongoing or intermittent use of a company vehicle.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC tools, machines, and their proper maintenance.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and test equipment to perform diagnostic and repair work.
  • Ability to complete timely documentation including maintenance reports, service tickets, and daily safety briefings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
  • Ability to travel occasionally outside normal working areas; may require limited overnight travel.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently, resourcefully, and safely.
Preferred experience:
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills down to the component level on boilers, chillers, AHUs, VAVs, heat pumps, and CRAC units.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and system plans.
  • Current Master HVAC License or equivalent technical degree.
  • Experience with Liebert HVAC systems.
  • Strong customer-relation skills with ability to provide proactive recommendations to clients.

Abilities:
  • The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
  • Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
