Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, OH seeks an HVAC Technician for the Evening Shift. You will perform installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration, heating, ventilation, and related systems across on-site and off-site locations in compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines.

You will inspect, test, and adjust equipment, read blueprints, and participate in preventive maintenance, while supporting hospital operations and patient care with reliable climate control.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training preferred.
• Universal Refrigeration Certification.
• Three years of experience in installation and repair of HVAC equipment.
• Knowledge of chemical water treatment and analysis.
• Knowledge of electrical controls and electrical theory relating to HVAC.
• Knowledge of temperature controls systems.
• Knowledge of indoor air quality standards.
• Experience reading blueprints and knowledge of codes.
• Valid Ohio drivers license.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and determines repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns on HVAC systems at on and off-site locations.
• Installs, maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, and overhauls HVAC equipment and replaces parts as necessary; tests operation.
• Reads blueprints and installs equipment per blueprints; updates as-built drawings.
• Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC systems at on and off-site locations.
• Operates and adjusts HVAC systems to meet specified temperatures and humidity.
• Inspects and maintains hospital equipment systems including chillers, cooling towers and air handlers.
• Performs tests and chemically treats boiler water and cooling tower water.
• Performs snow removal duties including operation of 4-wheel drive vehicles.

About the job:

HVAC Technician performs installation, operation, preventive maintenance, servicing andrepair onrefrigeration equipment, heat pumps, pneumatics, environmental control systems,boilersand related equipment. Responsible formaintainingHVAC systems at on and off-site locations within federal, state, and local guidelines, andinformsupervisors of non-compliance.

Whatyou'lldo:

• Inspects anddeterminesthe repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns and major overhauls on heating, ventilating, airconditioningand refrigeration systems at on and off-site locations.

• Installs,maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, and overhauls heating, ventilating, airconditioningand refrigeration equipment and replaces parts as necessary, checks and tests for proper operation, sets and adjusts the equipment and returns the system to operation after repair at on and off-site locations.

• Reads blueprints, installs equipmentin accordance withblueprints and specifications, up-dates and corrects blueprints to reflect as-built conditions.

• Performs preventive maintenance on heating, ventilating, airconditioningand refrigeration systems at on and off-site locations.

• Operates and adjusts HVAC systems to heat and cool air to specified temperatures andhumidity.

• Inspects, installs,adjustsandmaintainshospital equipment systems to include, but not limited to chillers, cooling towers, and air handlers.

• Perform tests and chemically treats the boiler water in closed loop systems and cooling tower water at on and off-site locations

• Performs snow removal duties including the maintenance and operation of 4-wheel drivevehicles, plows, salt spreaders, tractors, blowers, and applies salt andde-icers.

Whatwe'relooking for:

• Minimum Education Requirement:High school graduate or equivalent, vocational training preferred.Graduate of an approved technical or trade school preferred.Major concentration: coursesin heating, ventilating, airconditioningand refrigeration theory.

• Certification:Universal Refrigeration Certification.

• Three (3) yearsofexperience in the installation and repair of heating, ventilating, airconditioningand refrigeration equipment.

• Knowledge of chemical water treatment,testand analysis.

• Knowledge of electrical controls andelectrictheory relating to HVAC systems.

• Knowledge of temperaturecontrolssystems.

• Knowledge of indoor air quality standards.

• Experienced in blueprint reading and knowledge of state and local codes.

• Responsible for assuring heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment aremaintainedat on and off-site locations.

• Assistsin the training of new associates.

• Must have a valid Ohiodriverslicense
