Job summary

Cat5 Resources is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair climate-control systems at cell tower compounds and telecom equipment shelters. You’ll travel regionally, work independently and with project teams, and ensure reliable temperature and humidity control to keep network equipment online.

You will install and service HVAC units, perform preventive maintenance, read site drawings, complete service reports via tablet or CMMS, and follow OSHA/EPA

Qualifications

  • 1 year of HVAC installation and repair experience preferred; telecom or commercial HVAC experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Comfortable working in and around cell tower compounds, confined equipment shelters, and elevated platforms.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, service, and repair HVAC units at cell site shelters and associated equipment rooms.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance inspections on schedule set by carrier and client requirements.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues in the field.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and after-hours dispatch for critical high-temperature alarm conditions.
  • Read and interpret site drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment schematics.
  • Complete detailed service reports, work orders, and compliance documentation via tablet or CMMS software.
  • Coordinate site access with tower owners, landlords, and carrier representatives.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of parts, refrigerant, and tools; order replacement parts as needed.
  • Follow OSHA, EPA (Section 608), and company safety protocols at all times.
  • Work safely near active RF transmission equipment, following RF exposure safety guidelines.

About the role
  • Cat5 Resources is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair climate-control systems at cell tower compounds and telecom equipment shelters. Reliable temperature and humidity control keeps network equipment online, so this role directly supports uptime for the carriers and clients we serve. You’ll travel between sites within an assigned region, working both independently and alongside site technicians and project teams. Pay will depend on experience.
What you'll do
  • Install, inspect, service, and repair HVAC units, mini-split systems, exhaust fans, and ventilation equipment at cell site shelters,
  • cabinets, and equipment rooms
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) inspections on schedule set by carrier and client requirements
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant system issues in the field
  • Respond to emergency service calls and after-hours dispatch for critical high-temperature alarm conditions
  • Read and interpret site drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment schematics
  • Complete detailed service reports, work orders, and compliance documentation via tablet or CMMS software
  • Coordinate site access with tower owners, landlords, and carrier representatives
  • Maintain accurate inventory of parts, refrigerant, and tools; order replacement parts as needed

  • Work safely near active RF (radio frequency) transmission equipment, following RF exposure safety guidelines
Qualifications

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Comfortable working in and around cell tower compounds, confined equipment shelters, and elevated platforms
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills (multimeter use, low-voltage and DC power systems)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Reliable and willing to travel regionally between sites
