Job summary

Nightwing seeks a motivated HVAC Technician to join a fast-paced operations facility in Sterling, IL. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems including chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VRF, and associated infrastructure while collaborating with supervisors and clients to implement improvements.

Qualified candidates will have proven experience with mechanical HVAC systems, as-built documentation, data analysis, and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with HVAC mechanical systems including chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VRF systems
• Experience with as-built documentation and change management in mechanical systems
• Ability to analyze and interpret data to support system improvements and design modifications
• Hands-on experience with chilled water systems, pumps, and valves
• Ability to carry and use tools up to 45 lbs and work with hand and power tools for extended periods
• Strong project management skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems including chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VRF systems and infrastructure
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems and provide solutions for routine to complex issues
• Manage as-built documentation and ensure proper change management processes
• Support site modifications and upgrades with expertise during design and planning phases
• Analyze performance data to identify opportunities for system expansions and energy efficiency improvements
• Participate in operations and maintenance efforts to ensure continued functionality of mechanical systems
• Collaborate with other trades to complete projects on time and within scope

Position Overview

Nightwing isseekinga motivated and skilled HVAC Technician to join a dynamic and fast-paced program at a world-class operations facility. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing operational support and facilities maintenance, ensuringoptimalperformance of HVAC systems. This position requires a combination of preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks, with an emphasis on both independent and team-based work.Candidateisresponsible forassessing various conditions,determiningtechnical solutions, and executing tasks in line with manufacturer recommendations, client specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards. In addition, you will collaborate with supervisors and clients to present recommendations and follow through to task completion. There may also beadditionalsite duties asrequiredtosupport mission-related initiatives.

Clearance Requirements

TS/SCI with CI POLY. Must be willing to upgrade clearance

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including chillers, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, and associated infrastructure
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, providing solutions to routine to complex issues
• Manage as-built documentation and ensure proper change management processes are adhered to
• Support future site modifications and upgrades, offeringexpertiseduring the design and planning phases
• Analyze performance data toidentifyopportunities for system expansions and improvements in energy efficiency
• Participate in operations and maintenance (O&M) efforts to ensure the continued functionality of all mechanical systems
• Work collaboratively with other trades and professionals to complete projects on time and within scope

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience with HVAC mechanical systems, including chiller plants, FCUs, air handling units, in-row coolers, and VRF systems
• Experience with as-built documentation and change management in mechanical systems
• Ability to analyze and interpret data to support system improvements and design modifications
• Hands-on experience with chilled water systems (CWS), pumps, valves, and associated HVAC infrastructure
• Ability to carry and use tools/equipment (up to 45lbs) and work with hand and power tools for prolonged periods
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and drive successful project outcomes

Desired Qualifications

• HVAC Journeyman License or equivalent certification
• Experience with building management system (BMS) modifications and optimization
• Cross-training inadditionaltrades, including electrical, plumbing, and structural work
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively
• Proficiencyin Microsoft Office and internet research for product specification searches
• Basic carpentry, plumbing, and heavy equipment operation skill

Salary & Benefits

The salary associated with this position ($77,000-163,000) is commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise. Compensation will be determined based on these factors to ensure alignment with skills, responsibilities, and market standards.
