Job summary

Nightwing in Sterling, VA is seeking a highly motivated HVAC Technician to join a dynamic program in a world-class operations facility. The role handles preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, working independently and in teams on a wide range of tasks.

Candidates must possess a Journeyman HVAC license and have experience with chiller plants, FCUs, air handlers, VRF, and chilled water systems; strong documentation and project-management skills are needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical systems (chiller plant, air handlers, VRF).
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment, from routine to complex tasks.
• Work independently and as part of a team on diverse tasks.
• Assess conditions and determine solutions per manufacturer recommendations, client specs, codes and standards.
• Assist with other site duties as required to support mission tasks.

Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated HVAC Technician to join a very dynamic program in a world-class operations facility. The role is responsible for operational support and facilities maintenance. The HVAC technician’s primary responsibilities will include on-going preventative maintenance schedule, routine to complex troubleshooting, and required repair services. The technician will be required to work independently and as part of a team on a wide variety of tasks and is expected to assess circumstances and conditions, determine appropriate technical solutions in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, client specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards. The individual will present recommendations to and follow directions from the supervisor and/or client through to the completion of the task. Other site duties, as required outside of trade, in support of specific mission related taskings will also be required of the individual.

Clearance Requirements: TS/SCI with CI POLY. Ideal candidate would be eligible and willing for upgrade.

Required Skills

• Experience with mechanical systems (chiller plant, FCUs, air handlers, in-row coolers, VRF).
• Experience with as-built design documentation as-built designs to ensure proper change management is recorded.
• Participate in future site design modifications and upgrades.
• Analyze data to support design efforts for expansion capabilities or improve efficiencies.
• Perform as part of the O&M team to oversee any mechanical system maintenance or modifications.
• Experience in chilled water systems (CWS) to include chiller plant, pumps, valves, air handling units, fan coil units, and the associated infrastructure.
• Individually carry and support a 45lb and prolonged use of equipment (e.g., hand tools, power tools).
• Must possess at minimum a HVAC journeyman license.
• Good project management skills with the ability to work with other professionals to achieve a successful outcome.

Desired Skills

• Familiarization with modifications with building management systems
• Crossed trained in other trades (Electrical, plumbing, structural, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Microsoft Office skills and how to use the internet to perform product specification searches. Basic carpentry, plumbing, and heavy equipment operation skills

Education

Journeyman license.
