Job summary

Rutland City Public Schools in Rutland, Vermont is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to maintain and repair the district's HVAC systems, controls, and associated equipment. The role requires hands-on work with district facilities and coordination with other trades.

Starting immediately, you will troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, manage on-call duties, and supervise outside contractors as needed.

Qualifications

• Vermont State Vehicle License is required.
• Ability to work with people in a school environment.
• Equivalent of a high school diploma required.
• Current Vermont Master Plumbing license required.
• 8 years of experience in the HVAC field.
• Ability to obtain a Vermont State bus license within 6 months of hire.
• Experience with HVAC control systems (DDC & pneumatice) and basic IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and performs repairs and maintenance on all HVAC equipment and related software and controls.
• Performs plumbing work as required.
• Coordinate and monitor work performed by outside contractors.
• Prepares and reviews cost and time estimates.
• Coordinates HVAC and plumbing work with other trades.
• Takes rotational on-call duties as assigned.
• Order and maintain inventories of supplies, tools and equipment.
• Drives trucks and operates other equipment and performs substitute bus driving as required.
• Responsible for ice control and snow removal as required.
• Performs other related duties as directed.

Job Description

Facilities Worker IV - HVAC Technician

Supervised by: The HVAC Technician works under the supervision of the Director with input from building principals. The Director may delegate supervision of the position to DBGT supervisors and RPS administrators.

Works with: All maintenance personnel; school principals and other school administrative staff; teachers; coaches and students.

Basic function: Maintains HVAC district physical plant, equipment, and property in an operational, safe and hygienic condition by repair, routine maintenance and preventative maintenance.

Examples of work: Troubleshoots and performs repairs and maintenance on all HVAC equipment and related software and controls. Performs plumbing work as required. Coordinate and monitor work performed by outside contractors. Prepares and reviews cost and time estimates. Coordinates HVAC and plumbing work with other trades.
