Perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of building heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and controls. Perform skilled work in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration equipment to include, chillers, freezers, refrigerators, coolers, etc. Confer with supervisors regarding all aspects of assigned duties and communicate with University campus partners about all aspects of requests. Access information utilizing computers. Promote a workplace culture that encourages safety within the shop and in the field. Operate a University vehicle to transport materials, tools, and equipment. May be required to operate an aerial lift.
High School diploma, Vermont Natural Gas Installer Certification or ability to acquire within six months and three years' experience in HVAC equipment and controls installation, maintenance and repair required. Refrigerant Recovery Certification required. Experience using computers and mobile technology required. Valid driver's license or ability to obtain and driver's check required. Specific physical requirements may apply based on job functions. Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing specific job functions. Initial employment contingent upon successful completion of background check and physical screening.
Vermont Type S C3 License.
$31.00-$37.00/hour.
Position may be hired at either HVAC Mechanic (no VT Type S C3 license) or HVAC Technician (holds VT Type S C3 license) level depending upon qualifications of the selected candidate.
A probationary period may be required, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), This position is ineligible for telework due to the essential functions, Background Check required for this position, A post-offer pre-employment (POPE test) physical examination is required.
