Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Otero County Processing Center in Chaparral, New Mexico. The HVAC maintenance technician will perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC and electrical systems, and assist with trades such as plumbing and carpentry.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in repair/maintenance.
• Three years related maintenance experience.
• HVAC certification/license in NM or TX required.
• Valid driver’s license in NM or TX with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair HVAC, electrical systems, heating, ventilation and air conditioning; refer to contracted help when on-facility repair is not possible.
• Perform preventive maintenance checks of building and equipment; monitor tool inventory.
• Conduct routine checks of air conditioning systems.
• Provide on-call support in emergencies or equipment breakdowns.
• Assist with plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry tasks.

Education

What you’ll do

You’ll be responsible for duties involving HVAC equipment and recovery, general maintenance and repairs of equipment and buildings, assisting with technical trades such as plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry.

Essential Functions

• Perform maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical systems, heating, ventilating and air conditioning. Recommend contracted assistance when on-facility repair is not possible.
• Perform preventive maintenance checks of building and equipment. Monitor tool inventory.
• Perform routine scheduled checks of air conditioning systems.
• Provide on-call support in emergency situations or equipment breakdowns.
• Requires long periods of walking and standing.
• Requires bending, twisting, climbing ladders and pushing and pulling of a maintenance cart full of tools.

Education And Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, technical training and general knowledge of repair/maintenance, of air conditioning and heating units.
• Three (3) years related experience of maintenance.
• HVAC certification license in the state of New Mexico or Texas is required.
• Must successfully complete pre-service training.
• Valid driver's license in the state of New Mexico or Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
