Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Otero County Processing Center in Chaparral, NM, seeking an HVAC technician for full-time maintenance work. Pay is $29 per hour, with benefits and a scheduled Mon-Fri shift from 6am to 3pm. A valid NM/TX HVAC license and a 3-year maintenance background are required.

Responsibilities include HVAC/electrical maintenance, preventive checks, and on-call support. Requires physical activity; pre-service training will be completed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training and general knowledge of repair/maintenance, air conditioning and heating units.
• Three (3) years related maintenance experience.
• HVAC certification license in the state of New Mexico or Texas is required.
• Must successfully complete pre-service training.
• Valid driver's license in NM or TX with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Maintain HVAC, electrical systems, heating, ventilation and air conditioning; recommend contracted assistance if on-facility repair is not possible.
• Perform preventive maintenance checks of building and equipment; monitor tool inventory.
• Conduct routine checks of air conditioning systems.
• Provide on-call support in emergencies or equipment breakdowns.
• Requires long periods of walking and standing.
• Requires bending, twisting, climbing ladders and pushing/pulling a maintenance cart with tools.

What you’ll do: You’ll be responsible for duties involving HVAC equipment and recovery, general maintenance and repairs of equipment and buildings, assisting with technical trades such as plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry.
Essential Functions:

1. Perform maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical systems, heating, ventilating and air conditioning. Recommend contracted assistance when on-facility repair is not possible.

• High school diploma or equivalent, technical training and general knowledge of repair/maintenance, of air conditioning and heating units.
• Three (3) years related experience of maintenance.
• HVAC certification license in the state of New Mexico or Texas is required.
• Must successfully complete pre-service training.
• Valid driver's license in the state of New Mexico or Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
