Job summary

The Walt Disney Company in The Woodlands, TX is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to maintain and operate HVAC systems across facilities, including data center environments. You will support chiller plants, building management systems, and energy conservation while coordinating with vendors and on-call teams.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in HVAC, EPA Universal certification, Trane chiller experience, and a TX license.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of HVAC technician experience.
  • EPA Universal refrigerant recovery certification required.
  • Knowledge of Trane chillers and chilled water systems.
  • Ability to work third shift (10:00 PM–7:00 AM).
  • TX Class A or B license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and emergency HVAC maintenance at The Woodlands facility.
  • Respond to HVAC issues via the Work Order system, supervised or solo.
  • Maintain and monitor the Building Management System.
  • Install HVAC equipment and ductwork for minor renovations.
  • Be first responder to HVAC problems on assigned shift.
  • Focus on day-to-day chiller plant and system reliability.
  • Analyze problems and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with commissioning, diagnostics, and system verifications.
  • Assist energy conservation measures in building automation.
  • Respond to service requests promptly and professionally.
  • Prepare drawings/diagrams of system changes after installation.
  • Assist with plumbing maintenance and related duties.
  • Possible after-hours trouble-call response by phone.
  • Coordinate with on-call third-party service vendors as needed.

Job description

The team is responsible for day-to-day facilities operations, capital planning, and engineering operations of owned and leased facilities to ensure business is conducted in a clean, safe, and efficient work environment and that the value of Company physical assets is protected and enhanced, adhering to the highest level of engineering standards. Part of a team of HVAC technicians falls under the direction of the Facilities Manager utilizing an established work-order dispatch system. Responsible for maintaining all HVAC equipment and related systems on The Woodlands campus. Primary areas of attention are supporting technical production, transmission, and data center facilities and technical equipment rooms.

A Day in the life of an HVAC technician…
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on all HVAC systems in at The Woodlands facility including, but not limited to: Water Cool Chiller, Air Handlers Chilled Water Fan Coil Units, VAV boxes, chilled-water pumps, condenser-water pumps, hot-water pumps, refrigerant leak detection monitoring systems, chemical water treatment systems, fuel-oil monitoring systems and fuel-oil leak detection systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment not covered by third-party preventive maintenance agreement. Respond to and solve HVAC related problems via established Work Order system working under supervision with a team of staff technicians. On occasion may be required to work alone and/or unsupervised.
  • Maintain existing Building Management System.
  • Install HVAC equipment and ductwork for minor building renovation and MAC projects. Assist with updating HVAC parts inventory including ordering parts as vital through established suppliers.
  • First responder to all HVAC related problems on an assigned shift and must be comfortable working independently as needed.
  • Primary focus of attention is day-to-day Chiller Plant and HVAC system reliability. Ensures HVAC systems operate optimally in support of all buildings with priority status on technical production facilities, technical equipment rooms, and radio/television studios.
  • Analyzes and recommends accurate course of action for problems associated with HVAC equipment.
  • Assists in performing vital commissioning, diagnostic, and maintenance procedures (such as field verification of system functions to ensure the accurate operation of building automation systems).
  • Assists in the implementation of energy conservation measures by using and/or modifying the existing building automation-system features.
  • Respond to customer service requests in a timely manner.
  • Respond to emergency calls and prepares drawings and diagrams of system additions or revisions after installation.
  • Assists with plumbing repairs and maintenance and performs other related duties as assigned.
  • On occasion will be required to respond via phone to trouble calls occurring after-shift hours or on off-days.
  • May be asked to coordinate on-call third-party service vendors’ response and work directly with vendors as needed.
You will need these skills to be successful in the role…
  • +5 years or more of experience as an HVAC Tech and/or equivalent experience/building maintenance
  • Must be able to work third Shift 10:00-PM-7:00 AM; Fri/Sat-Days off
  • The successful candidate must possess a current Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) type Universal—Refrigerant Recovery Certification.
  • Knowledge of Trane Chillers, chilled water systems and sequence of operations along with some knowledge of VFD controllers and basic knowledge of refrigeration equipment.
  • EPA license

  • College degree or Industry accredited certificate the field is a plus.
  • The candidate should posses a current State of TX type Class A (Unlimited Heating, Piping and Cooling Journeyperson) or type Class B (Limited Warm Air, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Journeyperson) license for a minimum of 5 years.

The hiring range for this position in The Woodlands, TX is $62,200 - $83,300 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
