Job description

Lead HVAC Technician

The Lead HVAC Technician will be responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining HVAC systems in residential and commercial settings. This individual will provide expert-level technical support, manage complex projects, and mentor junior HVAC technicians. This role requires advanced knowledge of HVAC systems, superior problem‑solving skills, and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.

Hours & Schedule

• Full‑Time, 40 hours weekly
• Monday - Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, with some flexibility to accommodate team needs
• $40.00 – $45.00 per hour

Essential Functions

• Assign work tasks to technicians, schedule maintenance visits, and coordinate with other trades or contractors.
• Plan and implement preventive maintenance programs, oversee repairs of HVAC equipment, and ensure systems operate efficiently.
• Identify and resolve technical issues related to HVAC systems, often requiring a strong understanding of HVAC principles and troubleshooting techniques.
• Monitor the quality of work performed by technicians, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards; provide on‑the‑job training and mentoring to new technicians.
• Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and document any issues in accordance with local, state, federal regulations and EPA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Valid Maryland Masters HVAC license required.
• CFC Certification required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing required.
• First aid certification required.
• Minimum of 7 years experience in light commercial building HVAC, residential HVAC, water‑source heat pumps, and residential boiler/​chiller air handling units.
• Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs., climb ladders, crawl under equipment, and work in cramped spaces at times.
