Job description

What you will do

Under general supervision, you will learn how to conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, general servicing, and troubleshooting of mechanical HVAC systems, specifically Commercial and Industrial Chillers. You will be responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on-site customer interaction. Properly complete required project and service documentation.

How you will do it

Apprentices are governed by the local union agreement and will perform all pneumatic control systems and mechanical equipment service work assigned by the Employer, limited by their capabilities as determined by the Employer, at the apprentice rate of pay, under the Employer's supervision.

1. Perform routine service and inspections of HVAC mechanical equipment, including:

• Change and service filters
• Oiling and greasing
• Cleaning cooling towers, coils, evaporator and condenser tubes, and general housekeeping

Safely operate mechanical systems under contract with customers.

What we look for

Required

• Vocational School four-year program or an Associate degree in mechanical systems, air conditioning, or a similar field
• Three years of industry experience or five years of experience servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry
• Universal EPA Certification
• Valid Driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and working with hand-held computers (smartphones, tablets)
• Adherence to company safety programs
• Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, and peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques
• Effective interpersonal skills to professionally represent Johnson Controls
• Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Leadership skills to support activities of mechanics working on non-critical HVAC equipment

This is a Bargaining Unit Position.
