State of North Carolina, Anson Correctional Institution, seeks an HVAC Supervisor (NS) in the Maintenance Department for a multi-custody female facility. You will install, maintain and repair chillers and air handling systems, supervising HVAC mechanics and reviewing plans for contracted work.

Requires High School or GED with journey-level HVAC experience and EPA technician certification. Salary range $47,703-$83,479; Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, with possible overtime.

Description of Work

Reporting to a Maintenance/Construction Supervisor IV, this position is located in the Maintenance Department at a multi-custody female correctional facility. Job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Installing, providing maintenance, and repairing air-conditioning and refrigeration units associated with air handling and chilled water distribution.
  2. Controlling systems at a State institution through training and supervising a staff of HVAC Mechanics engaged in the same type of work.
  3. Designing smaller air-conditioning systems.
  4. Designing modifications to larger, existing systems, reviewing and critiquing plans and providing specifications for contracted work.
  5. Reviewing the work of outside contractors.
  6. Performing work independently under the supervision of a plant engineer and being evaluated through effective and efficient equipment operation.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the Minimum Education and Experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/Management Preferences are not required but applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Documented experience in HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) System.

About Anson Correctional Institution

Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.

Minimum Education and Experience
