Overview

HVAC Service Technician is responsible for, safely and neatly, evaluating and repairing existing HVAC equipment, while leaving a positive impression on the homeowner.

The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for evaluating and repairing existing HVAC equipment, ensuring safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough evaluations of existing HVAC equipment, not only to figure out why it is not working, but to also look for future issues.
  • Decide whether it is better to repair or replace equipment and confidently relay information to homeowners.
  • Read and understand wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Properly use many different meters, gauges and tools in order to effectively evaluate the status of equipment.
  • Safely and neatly remove faulty parts and reinstall new parts without damage to other parts of the system.
  • Perform repairs of copper refrigerant lines to air conditioning units, including brazing and soldering.
  • Use problem solving skills and make adaptations in order to repair equipment.
  • Determine the right material needed to complete repairs.
  • Keep track of parts on company vans and restock as needed.
  • Maintain company vehicle appearance.
  • Properly relay information via phone to other technicians, supervisors or manufacturer representatives, in order to collaborate on solutions.
  • Communicate with homeowners and be able to explain issues in a manner they can understand.
  • Be willing to do whatever it takes to ensure homeowner comfort by the end of the day.
  • Provide necessary support to other team members to be able to complete tasks on time.
  • Create and maintain cordial and collaborative working relationships with superiors, co-workers, and homeowners.
  • Ensure all paperwork needed for each day is accurately filled out.
  • Collect payment and return to office in a responsible manner.
  • Maintain a clean, presentable appearance at all times.
  • Take pride in a high-quality evaluation and repair.
  • Stay up to date on the latest innovations in the industry and maintain EPA and NATE certifications.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Possession of a High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • EPA Certification.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Honest and dependable personality.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to follow instructions and work alone, as well as work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to display a professional company image.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to pass a physical, drug screening and background check.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 80 lbs safely.
  • Must not be objectionable to working in harsh conditions (cold, heat, rain, etc.).
  • Ability to work weekends, late nights and overtime.
  • Physically fit with the ability to climb, stoop, balance, crouch, crawl, and kneel continually.
