Overview

The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for evaluating and repairing existing HVAC equipment safely and neatly, while leaving a positive impression on the homeowner.

Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough evaluations of existing HVAC equipment to determine why it is not working and identify potential future issues.
  • Decide whether to repair or replace equipment and clearly relay information to homeowners.
  • Read and understand wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Properly use meters, gauges and tools to evaluate the status of equipment.
  • Safely and neatly remove faulty parts and reinstall new parts without damaging other components.
  • Repair copper refrigerant lines to air conditioning units, including brazing and soldering.
  • Apply problem-solving skills and adapt to repair equipment.
  • Determine the right materials needed to complete repairs.
  • Keep track of parts on company vans and restock as needed.
  • Maintain company vehicle appearance.
  • Relay information by phone to other technicians, supervisors or manufacturer representatives, to collaborate on solutions.
  • Communicate with homeowners and explain issues in an understandable manner.
  • Be willing to do whatever it takes to ensure homeowner comfort by the end of the day.
  • Provide necessary support to other team members to complete tasks on time.
  • Create and maintain cordial, collaborative working relationships with superiors, co-workers, and homeowners.
  • Ensure all paperwork needed for each day is accurately completed.
  • Collect payment and return to the office in a responsible manner.
  • Maintain a clean, presentable appearance at all times.
  • Take pride in a high-quality evaluation and repair.
  • Stay up to date on the latest innovations in the industry and maintain EPA and NATE Certifications.
Qualifications
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • EPA Certification.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Honest and dependable personality.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to follow instructions and work independently, as well as effectively within a team.
  • Ability to display a professional company image.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to pass a physical, drug screening and background check.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 80 lbs safely.
  • Must be willing to work in harsh conditions (cold, heat, rain, etc.).
  • Ability to work weekends, late nights and overtime.
  • Physically fit with the ability to climb, stoop, balance, crouch, crawl, and kneel continually.
