Jennings Mechanical in Charleston, SC, is hiring an HVAC Service Technician I to learn on real systems under the guidance of veteran technicians. You'll work on a variety of commercial HVAC equipment, perform startups, diagnose issues, and support the service team.

This hands-on role focuses on mechanical, electrical, and controls skills, customer interaction, and safe work practices. Ideal candidates are mechanically minded and eager to grow into more advanced technician positions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• EPA Section 608 Certification.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning the HVAC trade.
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
• Strong communication skills.
• Dependable, motivated, and willing to learn.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment startups and assist with commissioning newly installed HVAC systems.
• Learn how to diagnose and troubleshoot commercial HVAC systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on customer equipment.
• Complete warranty repairs and punch list work on recently completed projects.
• Replace common HVAC components such as motors, capacitors, contactors, belts, filters, and controls.
• Assist experienced technicians with more advanced troubleshooting and repairs.
• Learn to identify mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues.
• Respond to customer concerns and help keep their HVAC systems operating reliably.
• Complete digital service reports and learn how to clearly document your work.
• Work alongside Project Managers, Superintendents, and experienced Service Technicians.
• Maintain your company vehicle, tools, and equipment.
• Follow safe work practices and OSHA requirements.
• Participate in ongoing technical and safety training.
