Job summary

Daikin Applied Americas is seeking a full-time HVAC Service Technician I in Charleston, SC. You will service a range of commercial equipment, from rooftop units to boilers, with comprehensive training provided and opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities include maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and coordination with customers. Qualifications include a high school diploma, HVAC certificate preferred, and a valid driver’s license; OSHA 10 within 90 days is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required to begin technician work.
• Associate degree/technical HVAC certificate is preferred for advanced tasks.
• EPA Universal Technician Certification is preferred for refrigerant handling.
• OSHA 10 training within 90 days of hire is provided during onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and service various commercial HVAC equipment including rooftop units, boilers, chillers and water source heat pumps.
• Log service activity, report timecards, parts usage and billing information promptly.
• Explain technical issues clearly to customers and provide status updates.
• Follow safety policies and participate in Daikin Learning and regional trainings.
• Assist with warranty service inspections and verification of system functionality.

Location: Charleston, SC

Your Responsibilities:

• Assist and perform maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment including logging machines, cleaning coils, brushing tubes, replacing filters, replacing belts and proper lubrication
• Assist in the repair and replacement of defective equipment, components, or wiring related to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes
• Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks
• Assist with warranty service application by inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of HVAC equipment and components
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner
• Interact with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call Explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, off-site learning modules, and Daikin Learning. Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld
• Follow all OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures

Your Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Associate’s degree or technical school with an HVAC certificate (preferred)
• 0-2 years of related work experience
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
• Commercial HVAC industry experience (preferred)
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process)
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $20.80 - $33.27 in SC. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
