Job summary

Daikin Applied seeks a full-time HVAC Service Technician I in Wilmington, NC, to service commercial and industrial equipment. You will train through multiple modalities and work on rooftops, chillers, boilers, and more, while following safety policies.

The role emphasizes hands-on maintenance, warranty support, ongoing learning, customer communication, and meeting cleanliness and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or HVAC certificate preferred.
• 0–2 years of related work experience.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• EPA Universal Technician Certification preferred.
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (training provided).
• Current first aid/CPR card preferred.
• Availability for rotational emergency call support.

Responsibilities

• Assist and perform maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment, including logging machines, cleaning coils, and filters.
• Repair and replace defective components on fan coils, air handling units, rooftops, chillers, and boilers.
• Inspect equipment to prevent breakdowns and callbacks.
• Assist with warranty service inspections and testing.
• Record billing, timecards, and inventory in a timely manner.
• Explain technical information to customers clearly.
• Participate in ongoing training and maintain required certifications.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area; follow safety policies.

Your Responsibilities

• Assist and perform maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment including logging machines, cleaning coils, brushing tubes, replacing filters, replacing belts and proper lubrication
• Assist in the repair and replacement of defective equipment, components, or wiring related to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes
• Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks
• Assist with warranty service application by inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of HVAC equipment and components
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner
• Interact with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call Explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, off‑site learning modules, and Daikin Learning. Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld
• Follow all OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures

Your Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Associate’s degree or technical school with an HVAC certificate (preferred)
• 0-2 years of related work experience
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
• Commercial HVAC industry experience (preferred)
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process)
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $20.80 - $33.27 in NC. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre‑employment requirements, including verification of employment history, education, background screening, and drug testing where permitted by law. Safety‑sensitive positions may require cannabis (marijuana) testing. All testing and employment decisions will comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
