Job summary

Kelso Building Services in Phoenix is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to diagnose, repair, and optimize large commercial facilities. You will handle diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and system optimization across industrial settings.

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting across low/high voltage systems.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and access mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair large tonnage chillers—air‑cooled and water‑cooled, including centrifugal, screw, and scroll.
  • Commission and start up chiller and controls systems, optimizing for peak efficiency.
  • Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls‑related issues.
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, and supporting equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Keep accurate, timely documentation of all service work, repairs, and recommendations.
  • Communicate clearly with customers about system conditions, findings, and next steps.
  • Adhere to safety requirements, EPA standards, and internal policies.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and junior technicians.

Job Summary We\'re looking for an experienced HVAC Technician with expertise in commercial systems to join our service team. In this role, you\'ll handle complex diagnostics, repairs, preventative maintenance, and system optimization across large commercial and industrial facilities. The right candidate brings strong technical instincts, a safety-first mindset, and a track record of delivering quality service.
Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair large tonnage chillers — air-cooled and water-cooled — including centrifugal, screw, and scroll configurations.
  • Commission and start up chiller and controls systems, optimizing for peak efficiency.
  • Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues.
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, and supporting equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Keep accurate, timely documentation of all service work, repairs, and recommendations.

  • Hands-on controls programming or commissioning background.
  • Prior experience in hospitals, industrial plants, or large-scale commercial buildings.
