Job summary

Comfort Systems USA Mid South in the Birmingham area is looking for an HVAC Service Technician to diagnose, service, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems. The role operates in the field, coordinating with dispatch and service managers to deliver high-quality, responsive service.

The position requires 3+ years of experience, EPA Universal Certification, and a valid driver’s license, along with strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience servicing commercial HVAC systems.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical components.
• EPA Universal Certification (required).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in the field.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and service documentation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial HVAC systems, including RTUs, split systems, and packaged units; VAV systems, AHUs, exhaust and make-up air systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and service calls in accordance with company and customer standards.
• Identify mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Communicate clearly with customers regarding system conditions, repair needs, and recommendations.
• Accurately document service work, parts used, and job notes using company systems.
• Coordinate with service management and dispatch to prioritize work and meet customer expectations.
• Follow all safety policies, OSHA standards, and company procedures at all times.

Position Summary

The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining commercial HVAC systems for our customers across the Birmingham and surrounding markets. This role works independently in the field while collaborating closely with dispatch, service managers, and other technicians to deliver high-quality, responsive service. Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial HVAC systems, including: RTUs, split systems, and packaged units VAV systems, AHUs, exhaust and make-up air systems
• Perform preventive maintenance and service calls in accordance with company and customer standards
• Identify mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues and recommend corrective actions
• Communicate clearly with customers regarding system conditions, repair needs, and recommendations

• Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a professional manner

Qualifications & Experience

• 3+ years of experience servicing commercial HVAC systems (preferred)
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical components
• EPA Universal Certification (required)
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in the field
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and service documentation
