Thermal (HVAC) Field Technician
The Thermal (HVAC) Field Technician is interested in advancing their career in Critical Infrastructure Data Centers and precision cooling. This role involves gaining specialized knowledge in HVAC/refrigeration equipment and developing customer relationships. The technician will be responsible for inspecting, testing, adjusting, and balancing heating, cooling, and ventilating systems in commercial and industrial buildings related to data centers.
What You Would Be Doing
- Utilize operational understanding of HVAC systems including split systems, DX systems, chilled water, glycol, controls, etc.
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment efficiently and independently.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues, replacing compressors and failed parts on A/C equipment.
- Communicate daily with the dispatcher regarding job details, equipment ID, estimated completion time, labor hours, and parts used.
- Read and interpret schematics and control circuits.
- Perform startup services on basic HVAC equipment and assist installing contractors with technical questions.
- Interface professionally with customers and present the company positively.
- Complete work orders, startup reports, warranty reports, and part orders accurately and promptly.
- Assist in training HVAC Assistant Field Technicians and answer technical questions.
- Handle refrigerants and operate reclaim machines, vacuum pumps, and other tools properly.
- Complete HVAC training classes as required.
- Work safely, following industry safety practices and knowledge of MSDS, tool, equipment, and ladder safety guidelines.
- Operate and maintain the company vehicle properly.
Minimum Requirements to Apply
- One-year certificate from a college or trade school
- EPA Certification
- At least 1 year of recent residential or commercial HVAC/R experience, with exposure to critical environment cooling preferred
- Ability to work independently on service calls
- Experience using vacuum pumps, micron gauges, and refrigerant reclaim machines
- Valid driver’s license for travel to customer sites in a company vehicle
- Availability for scheduled on-call and overtime duties
- Prior safety training and OSHA 10 preferred
- Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred

The pay range is $31.00/hr. - $35.00/hr. or higher based on relevant experience, plus bonus, work truck, laptop, and iPhone.
