Job summary

Len The Plumber Heating & Air is seeking a Residential HVAC Service Technician to join our Halethorpe, MD team. Expect to diagnose, repair, and service residential heating and cooling systems, including boilers, oil and gas heating, heat pumps, furnaces, and A/C.

The role requires strong diagnostic skills, customer-focused communication, and the ability to work a weekday schedule with rotating weekend/evening coverage.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of residential HVAC service and/or installation experience.
• Hands-on experience diagnosing and servicing boilers, oil/gas heating, and heat pumps.
• Strong knowledge of residential heating and cooling systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot HVAC equipment and clearly explain repairs.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair residential heating and cooling systems.
• Service boilers, oil-fired and gas-fired heating systems, heat pumps, furnaces, and AC.
• Perform thorough HVAC inspections and identify system issues.
• Explain findings and repair options clearly to homeowners.
• Complete repairs with safety and workmanship standards.

Position Summary

Len The Plumber Heating & Air is looking for an experiencedResidential HVAC Service Technician to join our team inHalethorpe, MD.

We’re looking for a well-rounded HVAC professional with strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across a variety of residential heating and cooling systems. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience servicingboilers, oil and gas heating systems, and heat pumps, along with traditional residential HVAC equipment.

What You’ll Do

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair residential heating and cooling systems.
• Service and troubleshootboilers, oil-fired and gas-fired heating systems, heat pumps, furnaces, and air‑conditioning systems.
• Perform thorough HVAC inspections and accurately identify system issues.
• Clearly explain findings, repair options, and recommendations to homeowners.
• Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high standards for workmanship and safety.
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience during every service call.
• Maintain regular communication with Dispatch, management, Parts, and Installation teams.
• Complete service documentation, invoices, and required reporting accurately and on time.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and properly stocked company vehicle.
• Follow company safety procedures and industry best practices.
• Participate in ongoing technical and professional training.
• Obtain and maintain certifications required for assigned work.
• Participate in rotating weekend and evening coverage.
• Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of residential HVAC service and/or installation experience.
• Hands‑on experience diagnosing and servicingboilers, oil heating systems, gas heating systems, and heat pumps.
• Strong knowledge of residential heating and cooling systems.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and diagnose HVAC equipment and determine appropriate repairs.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills related to residential HVAC systems.
• Ability to clearly explain technical issues and available solutions to homeowners.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to perform thorough inspections and make appropriate recommendations based on findings.
• Ability to accurately complete service documentation and follow established reporting procedures.
• Commitment to safety and established company processes.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience withServiceTitan.
• EPA certification.
• Additional plumbing or electrical trade experience.
• Experience servicing a broad range of residential equipment, manufacturers, and system types.

Schedule

This is a full‑time position with aweekday schedule and rotating weekend and evening coverage.

Candidates should be comfortable with schedule flexibility based on customer demand and business needs.

Compensation

$25.00–$40.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications,plus performance‑based incentives.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Work is primarily performed in residential homes and exterior customer environments.
• Must be comfortable working in basements, mechanical rooms, attics, crawl spaces, and other residential work areas as required.
• Ability to work in varying weather and environmental conditions.
• Ability to lift and carry approximately50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and perform the essential physical duties of a Residential HVAC Service Technician, with or without reasonable accommodation.
