Job summary

EES Facilities Services is seeking an HVAC Service Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations for commercial and industrial HVAC systems in Dayton, OH. The role includes coordinating service calls, preventive maintenance, and project support, while guiding apprentices and senior techs.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years of HVAC experience, strong leadership, and the ability to read manuals, troubleshoot complex issues, and manage scheduling tools. Travel up to 75% and a company vehicle are included.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate).
  • Graduated from a HVAC training program.
  • 7+ years of Commercial and Industrial Experience with mechanical HVAC systems is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Deep knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety rules and local building codes
  • Basic computer and scheduling software literacy
  • People management and customer service skills
  • Prior leadership or supervisory background required
  • Proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, and spreadsheet
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must be able to travel 50-75% of the time; Overnight stays may be necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Provide suitable and timely in-house training for department personnel and recommend outside training as necessary.
  • Monitor technician field performance, enforce high standards of quality workmanship, and assist the Service Operations Manager in fostering safe work habits and maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
  • Regularly evaluate the performance and training needs of department personnel and recommend changes in individual compensation levels.
  • Maintain state-of-the-art technical knowledge, including new HVAC products, technologies, and industry standards, and disseminate that knowledge to department personnel.
  • Develop and train a successor and assume the duties of the Service Operations Manager in his or her absence.
  • Assist in hiring and dismissal of department personnel as necessary to maintain efficient operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Resolve special service or warranty problems by rendering personal on-the-job assistance and supervision as required.
  • Allocate company resources such as tools, equipment, and vehicles to various jobs; provide for their protection against theft, loss, or damage; and recommend additions as required to perform company work.
  • Foster an atmosphere of teamwork, both within the department and across the company.
  • Engage in field work as warranted by the department workload.
  • Coordinate the initial phase of department service calls and maintenance projects, including project review, pre-job site visits, scheduling, manpower and special tool requirements, gathering of plans and service documentation, establishment of material flow, and preparation of service technicians.

HVAC Service Supervisor

EES Facilities Services is looking for a full-time HVAC Service Supervisor to join our leadership team! In this role, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the company's HVAC Apprentice(Skilled 1 & 2), Lead Techs, Senior Techs. This role oversees service calls, coordinates with Construction Supervisor on projects, preventive maintenance, assists with diagnostics and repairs, and warranty work, and assists the Service Operations Manager in fulfilling departmental responsibilities as required.

The right candidate will have:

  • Assist Lead Techs as required during the service phases, making timely site visits to monitor progress, with particular attention to the proper handling of job changes and written and verbal communications and confirmations.
  • Coordinate the close-out phase of department projects, including final inspections, punch lists, as-built documentation, and timely post-job critiques for future continuous improvement purposes.
  • Evaluate and assign skill-level classifications for department personnel — including Apprentice, Skilled 1, Skilled 2, and above — and manage each team member's individualized training plan and long-term professional development to support their advancement within the company.
  • Provide direct, hands-on technical training to team members in the field, demonstrating proper HVAC service, diagnostic, and repair techniques to build competency at every skill level.
  • Perform estimating for service and maintenance projects, accurately assessing labor, material, and equipment requirements to support timely scheduling and profitable job execution.
  • Provide quality control and oversight of all team work in the field, ensuring completed jobs meet company standards, manufacturer specifications, and applicable codes and regulations.
  • Troubleshoot complex service issues that exceed field technician capabilities, applying advanced technical knowledge to diagnose root causes and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
