Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic HVAC Service Manager to join our team. This role involves overseeing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the maintenance, installation, and repair of HVAC equipment and staff. The successful candidate will lead a team of technicians, requiring a hands-on approach and strong management skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Hires and trains departmental staff.
• Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of departmental staff.
• Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
• Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and develop technician workforce.
• Assist the Operating Manager with forecasting staffing needs and hiring accordingly.
• Ensure technician productivity meets or exceeds set goals.
• Plan maintenance, repairs, or modifications to HVAC or refrigeration equipment; assign staff accordingly.
• Analyze work orders to prioritize repairs and evaluate systems to identify issues.
• Determine and procure necessary parts, materials, and supplies.
• Guide diagnosis and reporting of mechanical systems.
• Coordinate work among HVAC team, other trades, departments, project managers, or outside contractors.
• Monitor work performance and assist in completing complex jobs or staff training.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant codes during installations and repairs.
• Negotiate with vendors and oversee work performance.
• Collaborate with Facilities Manager on budgeting and future repairs.
• Maintain records of preventive maintenance on major equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant HVAC/BAS experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and supervisory skills.
• Organized with attention to detail.
• Thorough understanding of HVAC tools, materials, and operations.
• Ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of safety practices and applicable codes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or related software.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 100 pounds.
• Exposure to various environmental conditions related to HVAC work.
