Job Overview

Johnson Controls is seeking a Service Controls Engineer to design, configure, and service HVAC building control systems and other low voltage sub-systems. The role reports to the Service & Repair Lead.

What you will do

Under general direction, responsible for the service & repair, design, configuration, and operation of complete HVAC building control systems and other low voltage control sub-systems (i.e., lighting, nurse call, data networks, etc.) to meet the intent of the customers and JCI goals. Accountable for quality, timeliness and efficiency of Service & repair and designs. Develop complex software programs, commissioning and solving to ensure proper operations of the building control system. Provides detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, Sales and Service team and subcontractors.

How you will do it

• Design, configure and service technically complex building control systems for the customer’s facility. Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts, schedules and electrical schematics.
• Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system per customer facility requirements.
• Coordinate and create necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals, services and/or installation.
• Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assigned jobs.
• Assist in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers. Validate complete system functionality and solve problems with subcontractors and other trades.
• Provide field change information for as-built drawings and software.
• Keep management and contractors informed of job progress and issues.
• Assist in performing site-specific training for owners/operators on the total building control system.
• Participate in coordination and release meetings with sales and service operations. Perform value engineering to provide cost-effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction.
• May provide work direction to Service Controls Technician I and Senior I and Senior II Controls Technicians.
• Adhere to safety standards, maintaining a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.

What we look for

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or minimum eight (8) years’ experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the construction or service or HVAC industry.
• Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems.
• Experience integrating low voltage building sub-systems using industry protocols (e.g., LON, BACnet).
• Ability to translate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
• Advanced computer skills, particularly drafting tools.

Compensation

Hourly range: $27.01–$33.00. This position includes a competitive benefits package, including 401(k), medical, dental, and vision care. Paid vacation of 15 days in the first year.
