Job summary

Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is seeking a skilled HVAC technician for residential and light commercial service in Jeffersonville, IN. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment, while educating customers on options and enhancing satisfaction.

The role emphasizes safe, compliant work with EPA/safety certifications and the ability to read wiring diagrams. You will work under supervision, communicate effectively, and promote our products and services, contributing to team goals

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems and how they operate.
  • Must be able to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential and light commercial equipment.
  • EPA and safety certifications required.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical concepts to customers.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and use hand tools effectively.

Location Address: 2999 Industrial Pkwy, Jeffersonville, IN 47130

Under minimal supervision, performs diagnostic and service work on residential and/or light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customers to answer questions, resolve problems, and ensure complete customer satisfaction. Promotes products and services to customers. Works under the direction of the Field Supervisor or General Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work under minimal supervision to perform residential and/or light commercial service and maintenance calls.
  • Analyze, diagnose, and resolve customer problems in a courteous, professional, timely, and accurate manner.
  • Present comfort options of residential HVAC and water heater products and services to new and established customers and strengthen the customer experience through a consultative sales approach focused on customer retention and satisfaction.
  • Diagnose and perform services on heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment as well as accessories in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Inspect equipment and perform diagnostics to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks.
  • Complete routine maintenance and equipment cleaning as needed or required.
  • Deliver and remove parts and equipment needed to complete service work.
  • Use hand‑held device to record all required information on customer call.
  • Complete all forms and paperwork in a neat, timely, complete, and accurate manner.
  • Collect payment from customer.
  • Communicate with dispatch while on duty to ensure dispatcher has an accurate status report of activities and availability.
  • Promote products and services to the customer.
  • Call Sales and Service Coordinator with specifics on replacement product sales leads generated from a customer service visit.
  • Ensure company property, vehicles, and tools are used, maintained, and properly accounted for.
  • Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters and activities.
  • Follow standard procedures and processes, ensuring that the company vehicle is properly stocked.
  • Return defective warranty parts to the branch and order/replenish vehicle stock as needed.
  • Perform similar or other duties as needed or assigned.
  • Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Required Qualifications
  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems; previous experience as an Installer, Maintenance, or Service Technician.
  • Ability to work independently; good problem‑solving skills.
  • Technical training certification.
  • Proven HVAC sales experience, with a preference for experience with direct selling to consumers.
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to understand customer concerns and translate this into business solutions the business can offer.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the delivery of service excellence.
  • Must possess all valid licensing or certification required by federal, state, provincial, or local governmental laws or regulations for the geographic work area.
  • EPA and safety certifications required.
  • Skilled at servicing heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment as well as related accessories.
  • Proficient mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate all necessary tools and equipment.
  • Proficient at reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting problems with electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems on HVAC equipment.
  • Proficient at starting up and balancing airflow, and properly aligning belts and pulleys on all systems with little to no supervision.
  • Proficient at installing a basic duct fitting.
  • Proficient at troubleshooting and repairing electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, hot water systems, steam boiler systems, humidifiers, and related equipment with little to no supervision.
  • Effective communication skills to communicate with customers and resolve customer issues, complaints, or concerns.
  • Effective and efficient time‑management and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Available to work flexible hours and on‑call shifts as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, attic stairs, and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces to access HVAC units.
  • Ability to continually climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, dry, humid, slippery surfaces, heights, and congested areas.
  • Ability to safely climb ladders with a 300‑lb load capacity rated ladders with a 30‑lb tool belt.
  • Natural or corrected vision to see and focus for close, distance, peripheral vision with normal depth perception.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Minimum Experience: 4+ years.
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED.
