Job summary

Thomas Brooke International is seeking an HVAC engineer to design and restore airflow and equipment in critical facilities nationwide. You will oversee AutoCAD drawings, evaluate existing systems, and craft restoration plans with a hands-on, ownership mindset.

Travel once a month and relocation to the Tampa area are expected for this non-remote role in a fast-growing, autonomy-rich engineering unit. You will work with a team that values practical problem-solving, collaboration across estimating,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant HVAC experience.
• Hands-on proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
• Direct experience with existing-building HVAC systems and retrofit work is required (not a new-construction role).
• Familiarity with energy-modeling software (e.g., Trane Trace, EnergyGauge, COMcheck) is a plus.
• Willingness to travel about once a month, midweek nights only.
• Willing to live/relocate to the Tampa area – not remote.

Responsibilities

• Review field engineers' performance assessment reports and validate data before design work begins.
• Specify and design air handling unit restorations, fan array selection, coil replacement, and temporary conditioning plans.
• Oversee production of AutoCAD drawings and engineering packages for restoration projects.
• Support estimating, operations, and sales; join customer calls as the engineering voice.
• Participate in site visits and field investigations, along with remote digital assessments.
• Help build internal engineering standards, templates, and tools as the department grows nationally.
