Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Wernersville State Hospital is seeking an HVAC Refrigeration Technician to maintain and repair critical heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across the facility. You will perform installations, troubleshoot complex equipment, and ensure safety and compliance while coordinating with supervisors and staff.

The role requires hands-on experience, a trainee program or equivalent, and commitment to a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in maintenance, repair and installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, including one year with commercial/industrial equipment and controls.
• Completion of an HVAC and Building Automation Technician trainee program or equivalent.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training including one year with HVAC/refrigeration equipment and controls.

Responsibilities

• Repair compressors, valves, motors, and mechanical components.
• Install HVAC and refrigeration units using blueprints and diagrams.
• Diagnose malfunctions by analysis, diagnostics, and testing equipment.
• Service and balance air handling units and heating/chilled water systems.
• Follow safety standards when working with ladders, confined spaces, and hazardous materials.
• Document work and communicate equipment needs to supervisors and staff.
