Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking an HVAC Refrigeration Maintenance Mechanic for the Department of Human Services at South Mountain Restoration Center. The role maintains heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems to support resident comfort and safe facility operations.

Responsibilities include inspecting equipment, installing gear, repairing heating systems, handling refrigerants per EPA rules, and performing preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems.
• Completion of a three-year Vo-Tech training program in refrigeration, HVAC, or building automation and six months experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems, related digitally controlled equipment, or BA systems.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect temperatures and maintain refrigerators, freezers, coolers, ice machines, and walk-in boxes.
• Install new refrigeration and HVAC equipment when needed.
• Make adjustments and repairs to steam, hot water, and gas heating systems.
• Operate recovery and recycling equipment and follow EPA regulations when handling refrigerants.
• Perform preventive maintenance, lubrication, and parts replacement for related machinery.
• Order supplies and maintain proper stock for repair operations.
