HVAC Refrigeration Technician

Shift Time: 1st shift

Shift days: Sunday - Thursday weekly

Shift Hours: 07:00 am - 03:30 pm

What this job involves

This position focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across all systems, with a high level of 'wrench time'. Candidates should demonstrate technical expertise in HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting, and be multi-skilled in areas like pipe fitting, plumbing, and electrical work. Availability for call-in work and responsibilities at multiple buildings are required. Some overtime may be necessary.

Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Install, service, and repair refrigeration systems and equipment such as condensing units, compressors, and evaporators.
• Connect refrigeration lines and electrical power sources, handle hazardous refrigerants, and check systems for leaks.
• Use blueprints or manufacturer instructions to complete tasks.
• Maintain and repair refrigeration equipment, troubleshoot specialized systems, and perform testing, soldering, brazing, leak checks, and system adjustments.
• Read blueprints, sketches, and schematics; perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

• Log complaints and follow-up calls in the CMMS database.
• Respond immediately to alarms, perform repairs or initiate follow-up actions.
• Monitor and adjust refrigeration, HVAC, chillers, boilers, pumps, valves, and other mechanical/electrical systems; record readings and troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Inform supervisors of equipment conditions.
• Check CMMS for trouble calls regularly.
• Perform preventive maintenance on building and critical system equipment, ensuring minimal disruption and proper documentation.
• Install and repair plumbing, wiring, motors, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and related controls; assist with major repairs.
• Follow safety policies for hazardous materials.
• Capture all R&M data accurately in work orders.
• Maintain compliance with JLL ESCP audit standards.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Familiarity with or ability to learn CMMS systems.
• High school diploma or equivalent; 2 years of trade schooling or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years experience with HVAC/mechanical systems.
• Strong communication skills, knowledge of OSHA standards, proficiency with Microsoft Office, physical ability to operate tools and work in confined spaces, and troubleshooting skills.
• Self-sufficient with extensive refrigeration knowledge.
• Ability to climb ladders up to 40 feet, lift 60 lbs, and detect alarms.

Work Experience:

• At least one year experience in BioPharma or Pharmaceutical industry preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• MA state refrigeration license required.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.
