Job summary

Vienna Beef in Chicago seeks a Maintenance Technician to keep ammonia refrigeration systems and associated equipment running reliably. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose issues, and coordinate with contractors to meet safety standards and production needs.

Qualifications include toolbox ownership, 2+ years of hands-on experience, HVAC-R certification, and proficiency with ERP/CMMS software.

Qualifications

• Must have own toolbox and tools.
• 2+ years hands-on experience is a plus.
• Read, write and speak English; Spanish is a plus.
• Experience in repairing refrigeration systems, pipefitting and welding; system analysis.

Responsibilities

• Maintains ammonia refrigeration system and related equipment per management direction.
• Perform PMs and repairs on compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, vessels, valves.
• Coordinate with refrigeration contractors, electricians, and pipefitters to follow safety policies.
• Perform duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager and/or Maintenance Supervisor.
• Ensure continuous operation of facility utility systems and support production schedule.
• Assist in recordkeeping for PSM/RMP compliance and training.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics and plumbing.
• Use drawings/diagrams and vendor docs to complete PM documentation.
• Handle maintenance emergencies and maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Other duties as defined.

Job description

• Maintains the following equipment Ammonia refrigeration system includes building heating and air conditioning equipment, boiler systems, hot water generator, compressed air systems, building sprinkler systems, and any other supporting equipment as directed by management.
• Perform PMs and repairs on compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, vessels, valves, and other machinery included in the ammonia refrigeration equipment.
• Work directly with all refrigeration contractors, electricians, and pipefitters when they are working on the ammonia refrigeration system to ensure that they are following all of the company safety policies, and meeting work standards.
• Perform duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager and/or Maintenance Supervisor or Engineering.
• Ensures continuous operation of all the facility utility systems and peripheral equipment to support the requirements of the production schedule and facility conditions. This requires proper coordination of all operations and maintenance utilities equipment.
• Coordinates both internal and external resources for maintenance of the facility.
• Assists in the recordkeeping and training requirements for all components of the Process Safety Management/Risk (PSM/RMP management plans to achieve compliance with state and federal guidelines.
• Provides technical analysis and services to provide real-time data on the status of refrigeration and operational equipment.
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment to maintain in good working condition.
• Troubleshoots electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and plumbing.
• Utilizes drawings, technical records, and vendor diagrams to complete Preventative Maintenance documents (PM's) related to machine overhauls and repairs.
• Handles maintenance emergencies as required.
• Completes duties in accordance with quality assurance, Good Manufacturing Practices, safety and other company programs and procedures, and in accordance with government codes and regulations.
• Maintains clean, organized, and safe work area, including wiping and washing equipment and tools; sweeping and mopping floors; trash removal.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must have own toolbox & tools. (toolbox will be kept in maintenance shop)
• 2+ year hands on experience are a plus.
• Trade school with HVAC-R Diploma - Minimum Requirement
• RETA Certification - Preferred Requirement
• Ammonia operator 1 ' Minimum Requirement
• Ammonia operator 2 ' Preferred Requirement
• Experience in repairing refrigeration systems, Pipefitting & Welding, System analysis, Proficient in reading diagrams.
• Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company's ERP & CMMS Software.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English, Spanish speaking is a plus
