Job summary

OSI Group is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to maintain, repair, and inspect ammonia refrigeration systems in a manufacturing setting. You will perform preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and may be on-call for emergencies.

Ideal candidates have 3-5 years of related experience, strong MS Office skills, shift flexibility, and a multi-craft background in electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and fabrication.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in related field preferred.
• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work various shifts.
• Multi-craft/multi-skilled with expertise in electrical, electrical controls, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and fabrication.
• Working knowledge of plant utility systems including boiler systems, ammonia refrigeration, and compressed air systems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose causes of malfunction by testing and observing operation of machinery.
• Disassemble machinery and replace needed parts.
• Interface with state and federal agencies as required.
• Operate refrigeration and utility systems.
• Perform daily chemical tests and log results, adjust as needed to stay within limits.
• Follow safety policies and procedures, educate others, and use protective equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and examining refrigeration systems, working specifically with ammonia refrigeration. This role requires performing preventative maintenance to refrigeration systems. They also respond to any breakdowns, meaning they may need to be on call to conduct emergency repairs.

Job Responsibilities

• Job is an individual contributor.

• Confer with operators and observes, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction.
• Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
• Interface with state and federal government agencies as required.
• Operate refrigeration and utility systems.
• Perform daily chemical testing and logging all test results, making adjustments required to maintain refrigeration & utility system within established limits.
• This role has the responsibility to understand and places in practice appropriate safety procedures. This responsibility is achieved through education, training, use of protective equipment (as applicable) and by following safety policies, regulations, standards, and laws.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills

• Associates degree or equivalent is preferred.
• Ammonia Refrigeration Certification is a plus.

Work Environment

• Work can be performed within a manufacturing plant environment with noise, extreme temperatures, and significant movement of powered equipment, people and conveyor (may depend on the role).
• Work conditions are typical of a food manufacturing facility.
• This role does not require any domestic travel
• Position requires the physical agility to perform continuous lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching/reaching, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, controls and standing/walking on concrete flooring.
• Position requires the physical ability to stand/walk for the duration of work hours.
