Job summary

Department of General Services in Harrisburg seeks an HVAC Refrigeration Maintenance Mechanic to support operation, maintenance and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems across facilities. You will evaluate equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and collaborate with contractors and staff to ensure safe, efficient operation.

The role requires two years of HVAC/refrigeration experience, EPA cert within 6 months, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Two years of HVAC or refrigeration maintenance experience.
• EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification within 6 months of employment.
• Active motor vehicle license.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate equipment and adjust deficiencies to restore comfort.
• Perform preventative maintenance: replace filters, clean coils, inspect components.
• Use meters and instruments to test performance and identify irregular readings.
• Repair HVAC components: valves, motors, dampers, fans.
• Install basic HVAC units such as split systems and window units.
• Handle refrigerants per EPA regulations and dispose properly.
