8.0 hours per day, 12 months per year

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess Washington State Limited Energy License.
  • Four years experience as a control technician, refrigeration repair person, or related field. Vocational training may substitute on a year-for-year basis for up to two years.
  • Possess or obtain Certification for proper refrigerant Usage and Recovery.
  • Must have completed a factory authorized course in DDC controls related to setup, operation, and maintenance of direct digital HVAC control systems.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record. A signed waiver will authorize the District to obtain a personal driving abstract prior to employment and annually thereafter.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Effective team member and leader skills.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions.
  • Meet tight deadlines, including varying working hours when necessary.
  • Regular attendance to fulfill duties and achieve goals.
  • Ability to climb ladders and enter steam tunnels.
  • Obtain permitted confined space entry certification.
  • Lift supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, approximately one-third of your body weight.
  • Effective communication skills in person, electronically, in writing, and over the phone or radio.
  • Ability to evaluate and repair various equipment and read blueprints.
  • Ability to drive to district locations.
  • Obtain job-related certifications as directed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students, demonstrating expected behaviors.
  • Work cooperatively and flexibly.
  • Calibrate electrical and pneumatic thermostats; diagnose and repair faults in pneumatic and electrical systems. Familiarity with DDC systems required.
  • Participate in designing HVAC systems for new and renovated facilities.
  • Handle equipment and supplies, and clean up after work.
  • Recharge refrigeration and air conditioning systems; check for leaks and malfunctions; operate refrigerant recycling equipment.
  • Optimize HVAC systems, including adjusting dampers, fabricating ductwork, replacing parts, analyzing CO2 levels, and diagnosing faults.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC/refrigeration equipment.
  • Stay current with HVAC/refrigeration technology through organizations and training.
  • Assist in developing and installing new HVAC/refrigeration systems.
  • Diagnose and repair motor controls related to HVAC equipment.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Benefits/Compensation:

Salary range: New employees start at the minimum hourly rate. Employees with verified prior relevant experience from other Washington districts may receive salary credit. Salary schedules are accessible here.
