Job summary

Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) is seeking an experienced HVAC/R Technician to maintain and repair HVAC/R equipment across MBL facilities. You will ensure efficient operation, support other mechanics, and handle refrigerant recovery in compliance with regulations.

The role includes on-call shifts, storm readiness, and collaboration with Plant Operations staff. A MA HVAC/R license and refrigerant recovery certification are required.

Qualifications

• Basic computer literacy and data entry ability.
• Familiarity with BAS, controls, thermostats and VFD drives.
• Ability to read manuals and write reports.
• Valid MA HVAC/R license and refrigerant recovery certification required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair HVAC/R equipment and controls.
• Service research equipment such as centrifuges and ice machines.
• Recover refrigerants and manage licenses and records.
• Keep preventive maintenance records and manage parts inventory.
• Provide guidance to other mechanics and respond to emergencies.
