Job summary

King County’s Facilities Management Division seeks an experienced HVAC Engineer to operate, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and related building controls. The role reports to the HVAC Engineer Foreman within Building Operations; teamwork and customer relations are emphasized.

Required licenses include Grade Three Steam Engineer, Refrigeration Operating Engineer, and Universal EPA Technician Certification.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience operating, troubleshooting and repairing large-scale HVAC equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
• Knowledge of products, materials, equipment and tools related to the industry.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and repair direct digital controls (DDC).
• Monitor and repair heating and air-conditioning equipment using computerized console controls.
• Make adjustments to compensate for temperature change or equipment failure.
• Inspect and adjust water levels, steam pressures, lubricants, coolants, drive belt and bearing operation, etc.
• Perform preventative maintenance on large commercial heating and cooling systems and controls.
• Adjust and calibrate large commercial heating and cooling systems and controls.
• Conduct refrigeration maintenance and service.
• Timely and accurate documentation of work in maintenance management system.
